Chamonix - The Resort
- Chamonix is one of the most accessible and exciting of the French ski resorts, approximately one hour’s drive from Geneva Airport or eight hours (560 miles) from Calais.
- Over the past 30 years Chamonix has become known as the skiing and climbing capital of the world, with the highest cable-car in Europe ‘the Aiguille du Midi’ taking you to an incomparable view of the Alps and Mont Blanc. It also gives access to the world famous ‘Vallee Blanche’; a twenty six kilometre run of stunning glacier scenery and skiing.
- The town is vibrant all year round and provides an excellent base for a mountain break. As Chamonix is populated throughout the year, it has retained its wide selection of traditional cafes and tempting 'patisseries'. For the all-important apres-ski, it boasts fourteen bars, eighty restaurants, one hundred shops and seven nightclubs. Indeed, it provides the perfect location whether you seek high adventure or just a well earned rest in the most breathtaking of surroundings.
